Jim Wilson (West Kelowna, BC)

President and Founder;  Canadian Lyme Disease Foundation

Jim Wilson has been involved in networking with Lyme victims and providing information for over 20 years. He contracted Lyme disease in 1991 in Dartmouth, N.S. and his daughter contracted Lyme disease in 2001 in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia.

With a background in investigating medical malpractice and legal liability matters, Jim provides unique insight into medical research from a perspective of conflict of evidence.

The Canadian Lyme Disease Foundation (CanLyme) was founded in 2003 by Jim Wilson and received charitable organization status in January 2004. We are dedicated to promoting research, education, awareness, diagnosis and treatment of Lyme and associated diseases.  Through our Venture Grants Research Program we are funding Canadian researchers to study the many complex issues that come with Lyme disease. The currently approved human diagnostic tests for Lyme disease are poor, they have a well documented high false negative rate. Treatment restrictions and failures are preventing too many people from regaining their quality of life. CanLyme aims to improve diagnostics and treatments while maintaining our daily advocacy and support role for those suffering from this disease.
